Final examination:
Only students with both credits may enlist for the final examination. Registration for the exam will take place on the day or days designated by the head of the department. Students register for specific exam dates electronically through the SIS application. Typically, the first, second, and third exam dates are held separately. During the exam session that was scheduled first, only the first exam date can be taken (similarly for other cases). The first exam dates are only held during the regular examination period at the end of the summer semester. Additional first exam dates are provided by the department, if necessary, at the end of the summer break or at the beginning of September.
The exam itself is divided into 2 parts:
Practical part
The practical part of the exam will take place during the internship period, on a date set for each group during the last month of the summer semester. This part of the exam is conducted by an assigned assistant, who is not the group’s regular assistant. Attendance at this practical is mandatory (no permitted absences can be applied). If, for any reason, a student does not take the practical part of the exam during this period, the practical part will be examined during the final theoretical exam period (the examiner for the practical part will be the respective examiner - Prof. Zámečník, Dr. Balko, or another designated teacher).
- Macrodiagnostic (pathological-anatomical description, analysis, and macroscopic diagnosis of organ changes);
- Microdiagnostic (histopathological analysis and diagnosis of 2 selected histological slides);
- Methodological (answering one question from the "Laboratory methods and procedures utilized by diagnostic pathology" section).
Theoretical part
- divided into 3 topics covering general as well as organ pathology.
Failure of any part of the exams automatically leads to the failure of the whole exam.
Students, who fail to pass the examination in the given academic year, will have to repeat the whole subject including attendance to compulsory classes. Those students will also have to fulfill conditions for a credit in both semesters again. In such cases, the credit given in the previous winter and/or summer semester won't be accepted.
Students studying on an individual study plan (ISP) who previously fulfilled conditions for both credits (in winter and summer semester), will have their credits accepted and won’t participate in compulsory lessons of pathology in the following academic year (but we strictly recommend attending the lectures). Such students may enlist for the final examination in the following academic year. However, if a student on ISP failed to fulfill conditions for a credit in winter or summer semester in the previous period, this credit won’t be accepted, and such student will have to attend the compulsory lessons of pathology in the following academic year. Those students will also have to fulfill conditions for a credit in the given semester again.
